Larry D'Attilio Headshot

About the Artist

For more than sixty years, Lawrence D’Attilio has pursued a photographic practice that resists easy categorization. His most recent and ongoing work centers on photographic abstractions derived from images of the natural environment, while his broader body of works range from documentary studies of Vietnam and America's changing urban landscapes to portraits exploring cultural identity.

Rather than remaining within a single genre or subject, D’Attilio has continually reinvented his approach, using photography as a vehicle for exploring perception, place, and the human experience.

This breadth of vision has resulted in a body of work that bridges documentary and fine art traditions while demonstrating the remarkable versatility of the photographic medium.
